Español Français Русский
The e-Forum 2008 has come to an end and we wish to thank the 445 participants who filled out the evaluation survey. You can view the results here (PDF - 83 kB).
Here's a brief look at some figures and a comparison with the 2006 e-Forum:
- Overall participation more than doubled this year compared to 2006
- Out of 3500 registered members (versus 1350 in 2006), close to 500 people actively participated in the discussions (300 in 2006)
- Those 500 participants produced more than 2000 contributions (850 in 2006)
- Contributions came from 112 countries (76 countries in 2006)
- The most popular discussions dealt with the gender strategy of the Global Fund and the oversight and coordination of Global Fund supported programs. These discussions lead to more than 260 contributions.
- The contributions were generally focused, with about two thirds leading to concrete recommendations.
- Participation by women saw a slight increase compared to 2006 but remained low (30% on average). Their participation varied widely by language, from 15% in the French forum to 50% in the Spanish forum. Participation by region (men and women) was as follows:
- 45% from Sub-Saharan Africa
- 15% from Latin America and the Carribean
- 14% from South Asia
- 9% from Eastern Europe and Central Asia
- 8% from the Middle-East and Northern Africa
- 2% from East Asia and the Pacific
- 7% from elsewhere (mainly North America and Western Europe)
- More than half of the messages were posted in English (54%), followed by French (22%), Spanish (15%) and Russian (9%).
The facilitation team is now drafting the final e-Forum report which will summarize the participants’ recommendations and feed into the Partnership Forum discussions to be held in Dakar in December. This report will be available for downloading on this site in the second half of November.
Thanks to all for having made the e-Forum 2008 such an inclusive and respectful place to exchange ideas and to help saving lives against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.
